PEOPLE SAYING NICE STUFF...

Working with Nick was an absolute pleasure, from the first time I cold-called him right through to launching the EP we made together. His experience as both a musician and a producer really helped me get to grips with the process, whether it was suggesting minor edits to song structure or talking through different techniques for getting the snare sound I was after. He has a remarkable attention to detail and a 'no bullshit' approach, which suited me perfectly. As a relative novice it was also great to work with someone who made me feel totally comfortable and encouraged - Nick gave me confidence in what I was doing and even got me singing harmonies, despite my protestations! He also makes an excellent cup of coffee. I can't recommend him highly enough and I can't wait to make the next one.

A BIT MORE ABOUT...

Welcome to Spare Room Recording. SRR is the umbrella for the musical shenanigans of Nick  Harris. Nick is a hugely experienced music maker and faciltator of others creativity. In recent years he has become best know as a RECORD PRODUCER and MIX ENGINEER but is also a fine MUSICIAN primarily as a guitarist – although Keys, Bass and BVs fall into his bag of tricks – and has  COMPOSED for film.  Nick will bring any combination of these skills to a project depending on its need.

Nick has worked with a diverse selection of artists on a range of records and independent films.  Whether working from his own place or other studios he provides a creative, fun environment that aims to bring a song / composition / artist to the fullest potential. Artists that Nick has worked with have been signed to labels, had music licenced to labels and films, and have received regular airplay on radio including Radio1 and BBC6Music.

Nick is also a live sound engineer: working regularly at the award winning venue Green Note in London, Nick mixes shows for artists across the musical spectrum a number of whom have won, or been nominated for,  major awards within their own particular genres.

Nick also loves working with DIY and grass routes artitsts and has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s programme Money Box Live talking about the economics of grass routes music making.

HIM & HER...

Somtimes Nick works with his wife Hannah – when she’s not performing, songwriting and vocal coaching! Hannah can provide another set of experienced ears on a project as well as helping artists manage their voices through a recording session. Nick and Hannah are a also a songwriting team writing for themselves as well as co-writing with others.

As well as studio work Nick and Hannah have been a regular presence on the London scene both as performers and supporting  the live work of the artists that they work with.
